More about me…
As a lifelong learner and adventurer, I’m naturally curious and have a deep desire to learn about other people, places, perspectives, and skills. I chase knowledge by learning new ID tools and taking career-related courses. I also love reading books ranging from history to science fiction.
I’m born and raised in the Midwest, but I spent ten years living around the country and globe. Traveling taught me invaluable lessons in problem-solving, adaptability, and innovation. Ask me about cooking a Thanksgiving dinner without an oven in Vietnam!
I value diverse perspectives, and am persistent about understanding a problem from all angles before selecting the best solution with collaboration and confidence. I’ve worked with people from all over the world in addition to folks in my own backyard. I’m inspired by diverse insights and value feedback from my teammates so we consistently create outcomes we are all proud of.
I prioritize learner-centered design by conducting thorough learner analysis to inform my development process. As a school-based instructional designer, I gathered data on learners' backgrounds, needs, and interests to create relatable and motivating learning experiences, resulting in higher engagement and true bridging of knowledge and skill gaps.
Calculated creativity is how I thrive! I am an avid crocheter, and love to experiment with the color and texture of yarns, while following a mathematical pattern for a projected outcome. Baking > Cooking because measurements matter, but so do fun flavors! I apply this concept to my instructional design work by getting my creative juices flowing with visual designs and then developing with precision.
My hobbies also reflect my results-driven mindset. I wouldn’t serve a pretty pie that tastes awful or gift a colorful blanket that’s not warm. The same goes for my instructional design—I focus on creating solutions that look great and perform better. And, I’m always willing to fine-tune until they meet the goal.
